Yes, I’m still alive/New blogs
Hi there. In my previous post I mentioned that I’d be up and moving, and I have. Deflower’d is doing very well, with my recaps of Australian Idol attracting a lot of readers. I logged in to this blog today and realised that quite a few people were still reading this one, mainly for film reviews I’ve done.
So! If you read this, please head on over to my music/gossip/reality tv blog Deflower’d as well as my newer, slightly more formal blog Landslide (design, music, tv, film).
Indiana Jones And The Raiders Of The Temple Of w00t
The trailer for the upcoming Indiana Jones movie has been released. Check it outtttt here!

I’m giggling like a Japanese schoolgirl that giggles a lot. Even though he’s a bit strange in real life, Harrison Ford always does it for me on-screen. Take me to one-liner heaven!
On The Horizon
It’s 1 am, it’s a weekday, and I am on holidays. I’m taking this opportunity to preview several upcoming movies.
Wanted
This film, starring James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman, Angelina Jolie and Terence Stamp, is about a young man (McAvoy) who is wrenched from his dull existence as an office worker into a life of adventure and murder. The wrenchers are a bunch of good (as in, they perform acts of “justice”) assassins, and the movie is about the protagonists transformation into one of them.
My verdict: Upon seeing the trailer, it looks like a bad Matrix ripoff with elements of Mission Impossible.
Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead
A film about two brothers, played by Ethan Hawke and Philip Seymour Hoffman, who decide to rob their own parents’ jewelry store, and directed by Sidney Lumet (mastermind behind Dog Day Afternoon and 12 Angry Men among others). How can this go wrong?
My verdict: As far as I’m concerned, this will be a contender for the best movie of 2008.
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street
Oh god. Johnny Depp channeling Ichabod Crane-gone-insane, once again under the steady/gothic directing eye of Tim Burton… with songs! I am dying (zing!) to see this. Helena Bonham Carter doesn’t particularly excite me as an actress, but I’m counting on JD and some Alan Rickman action on pulling me through.
My verdict: Fuck. Yes.
The Dark Knight
The next installment in Christopher Nolan’s series of Batman…uh… Batmans? Batmen? Well, it’s number 2, and it’s all about The Joker. Batman is again played by Christian Bale, Michael Caine is still Alfred, and we have Heath Ledger playing The Joker. They have replaced Katie Holmes with Maggie Gyllenhaal, which is a good move in my opinion. We also get Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent, who fans will know later becomes the villain Two-Face. I am really looking forward to this.
My verdict: You HAVE to see the 5-minute-long trailer in which the Joker’s men rob a bank. Get on YouTube!
There Will Be Blood
Daniel Day-Lewis wears a mustache ala Gangs Of New York and goes oil-prospectin’ in America during, I believe, a turn of the century timeline. He plays Daniel Plainview, and apparently gives a brilliant and powerful performance. Paul Dano, of Little Miss Sunshine fame, plays a priest who becomes Plainview’s nemesis of sorts, and everyone is saying that this is a career-defining and career-making performance from the young man. I cannot wait to see this.
My verdict: I Will Be There For When There Will Be Blood
Okay I think I’ve spoiled you enough for one night.
Auf Wiedersehen!
